New Lab supports entrepreneurs who are defining the future of technology and human experience. Based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, New Lab provides the tools and community that unite and support 650+ innovative entrepreneurs, designers, and engineers representing over 130 companies in a variety of fields—including robotics, A.I., urban technology, and energy—and fosters collaboration and advancement across disciplines.

New Lab is seeking a Director of Programs to join the team. This role will report to the VP of Product and Programs and work with a growing team of Program Managers to deliver programs. The Director will lead the operations of multiple multi-year Studios, workshops and other programs in development at New Lab. Prior experience operating innovation programs, such as accelerators or venture studios, that are at the intersection of entrepreneurs and enterprise, investor, and public stakeholders is critical.

Programs at New Lab engage our valuable network of member companies and entrepreneurs, our corporate partners, government agencies and academic institutions. In each instance we aim to offer highly valuable, well designed and flawlessly executed programs that help to scale frontier technologies in tangible and impactful ways. The Product and Programs team is responsible for the overall package offering and working across the New Lab team to ensure each program is a complete success. As New Lab’s product and program portfolio expands, the Director will support the development of scalable practices and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Execution: The Director and their team will manage various active programs on an ongoing basis. This includes setting up and overseeing the operations for each program. Key activities include: establishing KPIs and reporting structures with external stakeholders, developing and tracking program timelines and phases (from problem definition through product development and piloting), establishing milestones and tracking budgets, recruiting startups, advisors, experts and new program partners, organizing and hosting events and ensuring the alignment of all collaborators over the cycle of each program. A key focus will be on building out the processes and systems so that programs can be effectively managed and executed at scale.

● Management: The Director will build a team to manage the programs under their purview. This includes Program Managers to manage multi-year programs and Studios. The Director will also identify and secure the overall contributors to any program from academics to entrepreneurs, workshop facilitators to advisors. Under their management the Product and Programs team brings all key stakeholders together to ensure our programs are a complete success.

● Ecosystem Expertise: The Director of Programs will have a great grasp of the New Lab member community and our broader ecosystem and how our products and programs can add value and deliver impact. They will attend industry events, speak at relevant convenings and stay up to date on relevant trends in frontier technology, startup formation and growth, VC, product design, corporate and government innovation. The Director will be plugged into these ecosystems and serve as a stellar New Lab ambassador and champion.

● Program & Product Materials: The Director of Programs will create partnership cultivation tools that reflect the New Lab brand and mission including decks and written proposals. They will support the Chief Product Officer and VP of Product and Programs in developing the materials that summarize our offerings to ensure the Business Development and Marketing teams needs are met for client presentation and delivery.
